Eventually Unit 5 will end and we will be halfway to the end of the term. But from past terms, it just makes the remaining units that much harder. In this course I have to get cracking on my research and prewriting for my paper. My other course I have to do same, take exams every week, and then a final in unit 10. That should be a whole lot of fun. I can't wait for that. NOT!!!
Any academic challenges I have at this time would be trying to set up community service. I am in the Honors program and I am required to complete 3 tasks as part it. One is completing so many hours of community service. There isn't a problem finding volunteer work. It's just trying to schedule it on days I am free and having transportation. When you have one vehicle it makes it a little harder. Yes, I'm aware of public transportation, but taking a bus for like an hour to get somewhere 5-8 miles is off the chain. I don't have time like that to waste just riding a bus all around town just to get to a short destination.
School influencing my life, are you kidding? LOL. That's funny. That seems to be all I do now. I've missed out on a lot because of it, but in the long run, it will be worth it. I have learned to double up on assignments, or get a weeks worth of work done fast, just so I can go have some fun every once in awhile. I call it my reward. But when we get the week in between terms I am pinging off the wall. Go figure.

Hey girl! I know what you mean about not having much time! When I received the email about signing up for the Honors program I sat on it for days! I asked for the packet so I knew all what to expect and once I finished it I knew what my decision was, no. I declined. I was and am totally honored to have received the invitation but it was not worth the sacrifice to spend time with my little guy. I have already sacrificed enough time away from him since starting school it was not worth it to me to loose anymore time. As you know, kids grow up so fast, TOO fast! If my little guy was older I think I would be up for the challenge but not this time around so you go girl! Be proud of yourself because my good friend is in the Honors program as well and she said it is kicking her butt but she is going to do it! A lot of hard work but it will pay off and be worth it all in the end, Honors program or not. I salute you! hee, hee
ReplyDeletePam and Jen, I got the same letter, tell me what the conditions are! The only thing I did notice was that I would have to take on another class! I am doing good with the two I have right now and it takes up a lot of my time also. I could not imagine how I would get along with another class. Geese the one class has two tests in one unit! I am proud to be a Honors program student but like you, I don't think I want the extra work! I will be glad to graduate just to say "With honors"
ReplyDeleteSorry I mean Pam and Mikki, that is your name right??
ReplyDeleteHi Pam. Yes, I almost declined it myself. Sometimes I wish I had. It's a lot more work and I miss out on quite a lot. There are many times I bust my bum to complete the work for the week, and sometimes double up, just so I can enjoy some free time and have some fun. My social time is like a reward now and it really blows at times.
ReplyDeleteHi Maryann. You have to take 3 Honors courses, complete 3 projects, and maintain a 3.5 or better. I was offered to take another course, but felt I wouldn't be able to handle it this term. I was swaying towards an elective of immunology. Also, my grant wouldn't have paid for the class and I would've had to pay out of pocket. Yes, I have a class that has two exams this week and Unit 6 looks to be so much fun with two projects due on top of everything else. Whew!!!
MaryAnn, I still have the handbook in my email if you are interested in checking it ALL out? haha Let me know and I will email it to you.
ReplyDeleteMikki, you are not alone. My friend says the same thing. We are going on a girls trip this weekend to New Orleans and she had been busting her bootie to get all her work done so she can enjoy some real time off. I have been doing the same but she has more work as you know. Again good for you!
Hi Pam. I hear you. I don't know what a road trip or vacation is anymore.LOL. I used to go to Nags Head every September, but it hasn't happened lately. I accepted your Facebook friend request. We are in for a treat this Unit. I have two projects to complete. Haha. Enjoy your trip. Drive safe.
